CLIMATE

Summer is very hot in the area (Guadix and Carramaiza are located at the southernmost part of the Iberian Penninsula, 200 km directly above Africa).
The natural coolness of these cave houses helps to combat the suffocating heat, making it possible to live the afternoon and evening to the full.
Winter is cold and dry but very sunny. This is perhaps the best season for our visitors, as this time of year

combines a wonderful light and freshness, and at the same time gives you the unrivalled wintry charms of the area (skiing in Sierra Nevada, or the traditional celebrations of pig slaughtering at home, for example). At midday the temperature easily goes up to 15 / 20 degrees.

Outdoor eating is possible, and you can even roast something on the barbercue...
The afternoon, as the sun goes down and the temperature decreases, is an ideal time to light the open fire, and settle back in the warmth of this typical Mediterranean dwelling, which due to their thick walls maintain their daytime temperature.

The cave's natural temperateness balances the intensity of the region and its harsh
climate, providing an equally enjoyable base from which to explore the local area in any season.
